With all of the well-documented facts published now on Rove's shenanigans, er, no, he would wish/hope/pray that what he did was a mere shenanigan, Howard Dean may well be able to make the case that the Republican Party is one of vast and perhaps unparalleled (in the US anyway) corruption, even after Watergate. Blatant and appalling corruption. How many have died over a LIE, I ask you? Add to the mix the Tom Delay ethics violations and several other recently exposed Ohio Republican Party incidences of fraud, not to mention the recent conflict-of-interest problems in Cali with Arnie, well, it just might play.
It should play, but one never knows.
Oh, please bring us back to the innocent Clinton/Monica soap opera years. No one died and we were not globally despised.
Of course I do not pretend to be a professional political analyst or strategist. Au contraire, many of we John and Jane Doe bloggers (in dire need of copy editors, and/or more refined forms of spell/grammar check, including me) emerged from the political woodwork when we realized, quite alarmingly, that we smelled one vast lying rat that could immeasurably hurt and compromise us as a nation. Surely any Republican worth his/her salt will bail and start to rail. But then, I thought moderate Republicans would flee from Bush extremism, yet they did not, really. No, when push came to shove, the stuck together like glue.

It seems that the WH Press Corps is finally feeling the rage and indignation that many of us have felt for so long. Welcome to the club guys and gals, welcome to the club. Feel used and abused as if a spurned trophy wife or mistress? You well should, I am sorry to say.

A source directly familiar with information provided to prosecutors said Rove's interest was so strong that it prompted questions in the White House. When asked at one point why he was pursuing the diplomat so aggressively, Rove reportedly responded: "He's a Democrat." Rove then cited Wilson's campaign donations, which leaned toward Democrats, the person familiar with the case said.
