CLUELESS CHICKENHAWKS

REALITY CHECK BY MURTHA

Congressman Murtha seems to be one of the few honest political souls around. Meanwhile, back at the hacienda in Washington, an increasingly desperate coterie of GOP chicken hawks, driven by Rove, who somehow got off for committing treason, are screaming that the Democrats want to cut and run. Cut and run is the GOP's desperate and almost funny political slogan du jour. A billion bumper stickers have probably been printed already. Stay on message, evil idiots. You are more about lying and having someone else die for your lies.

Remember, Bush, Cheney and Rove all cut and ran from Vietnam. And there is no plan for Iraq.

Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld have opened a Pandora's Box of horrors in Iraq. My friend and co-volunteer for Radnofsky for US Senate sent me this link today showing photos of something we never see on TV, our fallen soldiers coming home. This is what the chickenhawks who cut and ran from Vietnam visited upon us with Iraq.

"THE RETURN OF THE FALLEN"

It's Rove's job to somehow make the war in Iraq seem like a good thing. Or blame its misfortunes and screw ups on someone else, like the Democrats.

And then the media, who have sold out to Bush and have been duped by Rove, must go after Democrats, too, in order to salvage their non existent credibility.

Turn off the TV news and the talk radio spewers of untruths and fabricated realities. Read non-partisan publications; watch the Congressional hearings on CSPAN, check out the Library of Congress, study the voting records, go to on line publications mentioned in the top of the blog, next to Libby Shaw, and make your own decisions. Don't let the likes of a treasonous trailer trash attack dog like Rove do it for you. LS

Below is the link to the article Murtha wrote for The Huffington Post.

Excerpt:

I am appalled that while manning a traffic checkpoint near Baghdad, three of our valiant soldiers was ambushed, one killed on the spot and two kidnapped, tortured and brutally killed. It is essential that we find the circumstances of their deaths. Why were they in such an isolated situation without additional back-up and who is responsible for these heinous acts?

Despite our most strenuous security efforts in the Baghdad area over the past several days, this area continues to be rocked by violent attacks, kidnapping and murderous acts, frequently aimed at our troops.

I continue to be concerned with the fact that our military men and women fighting in Iraq often tell me that they do not know who the enemy is. They do not know who they can trust; they are concerned that their camps have been infiltrated by Iraqis who are plotting to kill them; one day the Iraqis are smiling and waving at them on the streets, the next day the same people are throwing grenades at them.

"KNOWING YOUR ENEMY"

PRESS AND MEDIA AREN'T REPORTING OR ARE MISINTERPRETING POLLS ON IRAQ

Bottom line, over 50% of us want to get out of Iraq with a planned withdrawal. But our lawmakers and President aren't listening to us and the media is not reporting our wishes.

But here's the key finding. The pollsters stated a series of positions, ranging from opposing gay marriage to repealing the estate tax, and asked if a candidate running for congress who embraced such a position was more or less likely to gain their vote. One position was: "Favors pulling all American troops out of Iraq within the next 12 months."

That couldn't be more simple and clear. The result? Some 54% said they would be "more likely" to vote for such a candidate and only 32% said "less likely."

They were then asked to rank the most important issues for this fall's election. Iraq topped the list at 53% with illegal immigration far behind at 32%. This survey, and recent ones from Gallup, strongly show that the public very much prefers Democrats in this year's races and, in fact, would like to see a Democratic congress to balance the Republican White House.

Of course, time will tell if they actually go ahead and vote their beliefs. But reading the latest poll results, one might conclude the opposite of what many reporters and pundits now seem to be suggesting: that, actually, the GOP faces an uphill fight on re-selling the Iraq war, now in its fourth year.

EDITOR AND PUBLISHER ON POLLS ON IRAQ

TRYING DIVERT OUR ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE CARNAGE IN IRAQ, THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER VICTIM. WILL IT BE IRAN OR N. KOREA, ASKS MR. RAY MCGOVERN

From Truthout.org.

Excerpt:

The question today is whether that war-decision-then-intelligence sequence remains in effect as President Bush's advisers weigh whom to attack next. This is hardly a frivolous question. As the president's poll numbers sink and the embarrassment of Iraq rises, Vice President Dick Cheney, defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld and presidential adviser Karl Rove no doubt are trying to choose the best way to enable Bush to polish his favorite image as "war president" in order to stem Republican losses in the mid-term elections this November. There are only two countries left in the "axis of evil." Which will it be: Iran or North Korea?

"KARL ROVE'S BIGGEST MISTAKE"

Written by Stephen Schlesinger of The Huffington Post

Excerpt:

Let's hear Rove convince the parents of the two US soldiers who were tortured and killed earlier this week or the relatives of the four American soldiers slain yesterday in Iraq -- or the American public which has watched this repeated mayhem for months now -- that the Bush plan to stay indefinitely in Iraq is the answer to this forlorn, mistaken war.
